The Division of Business Operations' State Disbursement Unit (SDU) is currently seeking a Financial Services Technician Senior. The duties associated to this position are essential and mission critical as it allows for prompt and accurate disbursement of child support payments to our customers.
The Financial Services Technician Senior is responsible for the daily review and processing of a large volume of Direct Deposit Authorization forms and Virginia Way2Go Debit Card applications. This position provides administrative and technical support to include reviewing clients' applications, making the determination for client's acceptance for electronic payment, setting up accounts, and maintaining tracking systems. In this position, you will be responsible for researching problem issues and responding to inquiries from internal and external entities. This position is also responsible for preparing financial transactions and adjusting accounting entries.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), governmental accounting standards, and financial systems and reports.
Working knowledge of computer technology related to automated accounting/banking/financial systems.
Skill in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) to include creating spreadsheets, charts, documents, etc.
Demonstrated ability to research and analyze financial data for consistency with procedures and regulations; accumulate and analyze data and prepare/create statistical and/or financial reports and documents; plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; evaluate current work processes and make recommendation for greater efficiency; communicate orally and in writing with coworkers, managers as well as external and division staff; and work effectively in a team environment to achieve goals.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge of and/or work experience with child support enforcement program and state/federal laws, policies, and collection procedures.
Experience working with financial institutions/agencies responsible for electronic transfer fund accountability.
Experience working in an automated accounting/financial environment.
