Job Description
Kaukauna Utilities is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Financial Analyst. This is a full-time, exempt position that will function under the direction of the Finance & Administration Director.
This position is responsible for performing professional-level work involving the analysis of utility resources budgets, expenses, revenues, rates, and services. Responsible for developing, modifying, and monitoring performance measurement tools in collaboration with the Finance & Administration Director. Assist the director in preparing and presenting financial and accounting data in support of changes or modifications to the utility finances. Analyze the organization's financial data to give advice for guiding overall financial strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking.
Analyze financial data and industry trends to create financial models for decision support.
Develops financial plans and reports for organizational leaders.
Develops automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.
Evaluate current and previous financial data.
Determine Kaukauna Utilities value by examining financial statements.
Responsible for coordination and application of grant opportunities with various departments and outside consultants.
Monitors grants for compliance with grant agreements and prepares the related cash draws from the grants.
Occasional travel is required for training purposes.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, mathematics or financial management required.
Three or more years of experience working in financial operations, budgeting, or accounting. Previous utility industry experience a plus!
Previous grant coordination experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; including advanced features.
Considerable knowledge of computers, other office technology equipment and finance and accounting software programs.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
Ability to carry out assigned projects without detailed instructions and with minimum supervision.
Exhibit strong communication skills with both internal and external customers. Ability to effectively communicate and work cooperatively with all employee levels of the organization, elected officials, and the general public.
Ability to present financial information in a formal setting to utility commission and public.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
