Grand Sierra Resort is searching for a Financial Analyst to analyze the past financial data to spot trends and assess risks, which helps them predict outcomes for business decisions, identify sale/purchase opportunities and make investment recommendations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Investigate and analyze customer behavior in all revenue generating departments
- Create fully functioning models that predict future customer behavior based off assumptions or data
- Provide comprehensive analysis to senior management across all property divisions and departments: Hotel, Casino, Food and Beverage, Marketing, Sales, Entertainment, Recreation, G&A, Property Operation, etc.
- Forecast revenues and expenses for all departments
- Create P/(L) and other financial documents needed for effective reporting
- Regularly submit daily and weekly reports regarding the property's financial performance to executive leadership
- Performs pricing , pricing, variance, profitability, individual gaming hotel room, market analysis
- Engage in competitor analysis, online pricing comparisons, online offering comparison, and associated analysis
- Identify and research divergent or aberrant customer, sales, hotel booking, gaming unit, market share capture and expense behavior
- Provide labor analysis and other operations enhancements to improve operational performance
- Support Sales and Entertainment Team with PROFORMA and POSTFORMA analysis of contracted events or conventions
- Create or assist in the development of budgets, operational plans, financial models, and strategies
- Support senior management with special projects and analysis as needed
- Review financial statements and distribute analysis which is used to make major financial decisions-primarily with respect to major events and promotions, or holidays
- Use financial analyses, and the study of industry and market trends to compile data that will be used in planning meetings to plot, or correct, or engage business strategies.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Power User of all Microsoft Products in the Office Suite
- Must be proficient in Excel (xlookup, sumif, pivot tables)
- Able to write using a scripting language (or willingness to learn but experience is preferred) - SQL code for data extraction and VBA for Excel Macros
- Some GAAP knowledge and experience preferred
- Familiarity or willingness to learn Microsoft Dynamics, COGNOS, SQL Server Management Studio, SAP, Power BI and Tableau or other analytics, statistical, and/or reporting tools like UniFocus
- Comfortable in a data lake or data warehouse environment and analyzing that information to create a summary report for executive leadership
- Strong organizational skills
- Multi-task and time management to achieve multiple overlapping projects and reporting deadlines
- Strong Presentation skills, especially when regarding executive leadership
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effectively communicate up and down the chain of command
- Organize resources with other client departments
- Can understand client department operations and make material observations to improve outcomes
- Understands mathematical and financial formulas like percentages, compounding, NPV, FPV, ratios, standard deviations, Z Scores, regression analysis, amortization, etc. The preceding list is representational not exhaustive
- Must have strong critical thinking skills
- Can self-train and self-learn. Not all problems will have pre-built solutions. Analysts are required to use investigation, insight, and invention to derive procedures to find solutions to presented problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be at a minimum of 21 years of age.
A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Analytics, or MIS
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Nevada Gaming Board and Alcohol Awareness Card
