Position Title:Financial Aid Specialist

Essential Function:Assists students in obtaining Financial Aid and acts as a liaison between applicants and various Financial Aid institutions.
Qualifications:Education: Associate’s degree or two (2) years of equivalent work experience
1. Shares proportional caseload to advice students and parents on available Financial Aid sources for programs such as: Pell Grant, Illinois State Grant, Supplemental Equal Opportunity Grant, Work Study and scholarships.
2. Assists students and parents in filing out the necessary forms.
3. Verifies accuracy of all paperwork submitted by applicants.
4. Assesses and notifies students of eligibility for all types of federal and state Financial Aid, packages types of aid to be awarded.
5. Certifies student loans and transmits information to appropriate guarantee agency.
6. Provides (schedules or conducts?) entrance and exit interviews to loan recipients.
7. Assures that grants are applied against recipients tuition balance and initiates grant refund process.
8. Assists other departments on campus, off-campus agencies and other institutions by providing information and resolving problems.
9. Maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to Financial Aid.
10. Trains and assigns office tasks to student aids.
11. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
