Alvarez & Marsal is looking for strong candidates with finance and project management experience to join the Financial Services Industry (“FSI”) group’s internal operations team. FSI’s Finance & Operations Director will act as a strategic partner and advisor, accountable for driving initiatives across all areas of finance including financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and billing and operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the FSI Leader, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Directors in all aspects of managing and operating the business
- Promote various activities of the business related to project administration, financial and risk management to facilitate the internal functioning of the practice
- Find ways to continuously improve the processes, tools and activities that support the practice and our people. Liaise with Corporate Finance and other business units as needed
- Manage the project lifecycle from conflict check submission, conflict report review and resolution, project code setups, and working capital management
- Monitor accuracy and timeliness of client billing, collections of receivables, and support year-end collection activities
- Initiate and lead regular calls with Managing Directors to review working capital (WIP, AR, and collections)
- Provide insight and analysis to FSI MDs and project teams regarding project profitability, special projects and other ad hoc reporting needs
- Provide insight and assistance around strategic plans, budgets and forecasting
- Analyze and provide interpretation of financial results and key financial and operational metrics
- Monitor and manage expenses within the established budget
- Prepare monthly financial reporting package – P&L, overhead, bill rates, working capital, utilization, headcount, etc.
- Drive various special projects, leveraging a broad knowledge of different functions, including Accounting, Finance, FP&A, Billing, and Operations
- Support year-end compensation processes
- Communicate and educate finance policies, procedures, & processes to FSI professionals
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of related professional experience in financial analysis, reporting, and finance operations and/or consulting
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA or CFA is preferred
- Deep analytical skills with ability to translate data and trends into key insights and recommendations, financial acumen and ability to build and manage budgets, models, etc.
- Ability to handle ad hoc projects as business requirements emerge and evolve
- High level of accountability; self-driven and motivated
Excited to work in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with expertise in PowerPoint and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The salary range is $150,000 - $170,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
