Job description

We are seeking a Director to join our Internal Audit team to lead assurance activities and provide an independent assessment of the Operations operating and control environment for Institutional Securities.

In the Audit division, we provide senior management an objective and independent assessment of the Firm's internal control environment for risk management and governance. This is a Director level position within Business Audit, which is responsible for inspecting controls in front, middle and back offices.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Help identify risk and impact to relevant coverage area to prioritize areas of focus
  • Execute and lead aspects of assurance activities (eg, audits, continuous monitoring, closure verification) to assess risk and formulate a view on the control environment
  • Facilitate conversations with stakeholders on risks, their impact and how well they are managed in a clear, timely and structured manner
  • Assist in managing multiple deliverables in line with team priorities
  • Solicit and provide feedback and participate in formal and on-the-job training to further develop self and peer

What you'll bring to the role:

  • At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Understanding of business line (Institutional Securities and Operations) and key regulations relevant to coverage area
  • Knowledge of capital markets and banking products to help plan audit engagements and assess risks
  • Strong understanding of audit principles, methodology, tools and processes (eg, risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring)
  • Ability to identify and analyze multiple data sources to inform point of view
  • Ability to ask meaningful questions, understand various viewpoints and adapt messaging accordingly

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $130,000 and $180,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
