The Finance Information Systems (FIS) Analyst provides responsive system support to functional leads to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, unexpected workflow errors, security concerns, or integration issues between the FIS and external computer systems/vendors. The FIS Analyst writes and maintains a variety of reports and dashboards and responds to ad hoc requests to support finance analytics efforts.
The FIS Analyst consults with Finance (to include Payroll) functional leads and project teams to better understand business challenges,?help define and gather business requirements, and recommend solutions that improve business processes and FIS workflows. The FIS Analyst champions change management practices and leads the tactical execution of FIS configuration, testing, and implementation activities for Finance projects.
The FIS Analyst will play a key role in the City's Workday Financials implementation (with a target launch date of September 2024).
- Serve as a Workday functional "superuser," developing an intimate understanding of how the system functions across the Workday Financials ecosystem (e.g., payroll, AP/AR, budget, grants, etc.)
- As part of the core project team, conduct functional configuration and business requirements testing to ensure the design meets expectations
- Process a variety of different personnel transactions in Workday in support of implementation cutover activities
- In conjunction with the project team, provide Workday end user support for testing, training, and pre- and post-launch.
- Develop process and procedure documents for use during the project's testing, training, and launch phases.
- Actively participate in the planning and coordinating of development, testing, and system release activities in concert with business needs and objectives.
- Work closely with business counterparts to gather, document, and inventory business requirements as well as assist with prioritizing business-requested projects as part of the overall Workday roadmap
- Consult with and analyze user needs and develop system requirements
- Plan and make recommendations for Finance Information technology strategies and projects
- Track, solve, test, and troubleshoot Finance computer systems issues and enhancement requests
- Plan, design, propose and implement/configure changes/improvements to internal computer and electronic finance systems
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Accounting, Finance, Business, IT, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced computer systems skills including: four years of experience working with complex, enterprise-wide and/or Finance Information Systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel specifically including work with large data sets.
- Valid state-issued driver's license
- Experience working in Accounting, Finance, IT, and/or a related business field.
- Experience in Workday or other Finance Information Systems preferred.
- Experience with the systems development life cycle and enterprise system management best practices.
