UIC Science provide Field Support for scientists, military, and media clients working in and around Utqiaġvik. UIC Science operates a rental fleet of snowmachines, ATVs, and trucks, as well as three lodging facilities, warehouse/staging space, and laboratory space. The Field Support Technician will work as part of the UIC Science field operations team to manage fleet rentals, building maintenance, and general support tasks as needed. Field Tech will also work as a bear guard with clients. This is a temporary position with potential to transition to permanent full-time based on job performance.
- Supporting UIC Science field operations during peak season
- Maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles
- General support of field operations

- Operating ATVs, snowmachines, and trucks
- Familiarity with land and water near Utqiaġvik, Alaska
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently
Required Experience:
- Previous maintenance or laborer experience strongly preferred
- Remote hunting or camping being out on the ice or land
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
