Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic
UPS is seeking a qualified Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on UPS Ground Support Equipment, including gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic and air brake systems, and electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily maintenance and preventative maintenance on all Ground Support Equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Diagnose problems using test equipment and applicable manuals. Remove, test, repair, or replace components and accessories such as carburetors, governors, air and oil cleaners, ignition components, and sensors.
- Operate and test ground equipment for performance assessment and quality assurance.
- Document all repairs, parts, and labor on the computer for accurate record-keeping.
- Meet D.O.T requirements and adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Work a full-time schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per 7-day week, including 2nd or 3rd shifts and occasional overtime as needed.
- Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage, and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds. Assist in moving packages or equipment up to 150 pounds.
- Operate standard/manual transmission vehicles and utilize power and pneumatic tools.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required and work in various environmental conditions, including variable temperatures and humidity, exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, noise, and outside inclement weather.
- Collaborate effectively in a diverse work environment and communicate clearly to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in performing maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment, including gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic and air brake systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues effectively using test equipment and manuals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Possess all necessary personal tools required for the job.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- CDL Class A/B Preferred
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay rate for this position is $39.82 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
