Position Description
This role is responsible for delivering installation, ongoing customer and sales support with customers in North America. Key to success in this role is the ability to connect with the customer plant floor areas of manufacturing, tooling, and maintenance and repair. Feedback to the sales force and product development group is also internally extremely important. This role will require 50%-75% travel with a majority of it in the Detroit area and other automotive locations. Infrequent international travel will be likely for training and meetings.
Duties
· Provide assistance to customers and internal personnel for the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical and programming problems related to installation equipment
· Manage customer relationships with professionalism
· Perform in-house, on-site, and/or telephone troubleshooting, repairs and support as needed
· Work within a flexible work/travel schedule
· Travel to customer sites on short notice and frequently requires the ability to work long hours to meet customer needs
· Make a complete backup of all software, programming, or configuration changes that were made during the customer visit
· Complete Field Service reports
· Develop technical credibility and rapport with customer
· Work with the Service Manager and/or related supervisor(s) to identify individual training needs to maintain and continuously improve skills and knowledge of all products and applications
· Assist the Sales, Engineering, Assembly, Spare Parts, Shipping & Receiving teams when required
· Participate actively in the promotion and sale of parts and services every time an opportunity arises
· Regular travel to customer sites – both domestic and international (passport required)
Education and Experience
· Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience in Electro-Mechanical Technology or Mechatronics
OR
· 5+ years working with electro/mechanical devices and/or automation equipment
OR
· Technical Associates degree and/or extensive experience in machine design, machine building, and/or machine repair/maintenance
· Experience working with Mechatronic equipment within a machine building or manufacturing organization is a plus
· Knowledge or related experience of stamping, cold forming, tool die, and automated assembly technologies is preferred
· Previous experiences with robotics and other automated manufacturing machinery installation and maintenance is a good match to this role
Attributes, Skills and Abilities

- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment and systems including but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, 24V control systems and controls logic
- Ability to troubleshoot and/or program PLC, specifically Allen Bradley
- Able to read and/or create electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Hydro-pneumatics
- Servo drive experience is a plus
- Various sensors, switches, LVDT’s, and load cells
- Familiarity with North American safety standards (e.g. OSHA, UL, NFPA, NEC, CFR, IEC, ANSI, ISO)
