- 5+ years of experience working in a data center operations or equivalent environment
- 3+ years of experience with data center equipment and rack build/installation efforts
- 3+ years of experience working with networking protocols/technologies (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3)
DCO Field Engineers may work in isolation (i.e. as the only AWS employee onsite) while on-premises with end customers or in an external data center. As such, DCO Field Engineers must maintain an unyielding focus on effectively representing the AWS brand at all times. DCO Field Engineers regularly collaborate with other technicians and internal partner teams on assigned tasks. This role requires general working knowledge of relevant data center functions/processes (e.g. server/rack maintenance and troubleshooting, networking, power/electrical, installation, provisioning, decommissioning, etc.) and the ability work within established SOPs across these technical areas. With AWS customers across many countries, travel is regularly required, as well as occasional after-hours work, to include nights and weekends. DCO Field Engineers lead smaller projects and participate in aspects of larger, more complex projects/assignments. This role troubleshoots standard IT problems and escalates complex issues to Sr DCO Field Engineers or management. The DCO Field Engineer communicates and partners effectively across teams, and is learning to communicate with senior leadership. This role may support the on-boarding and mentorship of new technicians, as required.

- Degree in a technical field or 4+ years of data center operations work experience
- Experience in a client-facing role, with the proven ability to manage and effectively communicate expectations to clients
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to effectively manage through conflict
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex IT problems, solving for issues at the root-cause level
- Ability to operate autonomously and manage to a schedule – excellent prioritization and time management
- Understanding of power feeds/redundancy, ATS, hot/cold aisles, rack build/installation, networking hardware (cabling, switches, servers), inventory management, and associated troubleshooting
- Experience participating in/leading efforts to automate processes and/or implement tools/SOPs that enhance operational efficiencies
- Proficiency in network operating systems (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Junos) and basic understanding of Linux/Unix configuration
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, etc.)
- Experience with leading projects
