GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Are you an experienced accountant looking to move your career in a non-traditional path? Come join the Wyoming State Treasurer's Office as part of the Unclaimed Property team. Apply your accounting skills to delve into various duties most financial experts never get to experience. The Unclaimed Property Division serves as a custodian for more than $105 million in cash, securities, and safe deposit box contents owed to the citizens and former citizens of the Cowboy State. If you have succeeded in your career and are looking for a change that will allow you to help make a difference in many lives, this is the place for you. This position will be responsible for the general accounting functions of the Division, coordinate and correspond with our team of third-party examiners, work directly with banks on the escheatment of safe deposit box contents, as well as help reunite these properties with rightful owners. We will teach you how to apply your skills to our office's unique challenges and allow you to work for the benefit of Wyoming citizens.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Selects external audit companies to audit entities that hold monies owed to Wyomingites and works with those companies to accurately audit and obtain unclaimed property funds.
- Reviews audit results, works to resolve audit issues, and determines best actions on behalf of future claimants.
- Works with holders to be in compliance with Wyoming's statutes determining the right courses of action for voluntary compliance, extensions, and resolution of other compliance issues.
- Assists in the development and supervision of audit contracts and works with an in-house attorney regarding potential legal issues.
- Works on special projects, such as developing policies and processes pertaining to bank safety deposit boxes and other tangible property concerns as well as bankruptcies involving holders.
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given for a Bachelor's Degree (typically in auditing).
Preference will be given for expert knowledge of Unclaimed Property. Experience with WOLFS and/or unclaimed property is not necessary but beneficial.

- Ability to interpret and apply Wyoming state statutes.
- Ability to establish relationships with holders, external auditors, and legislators.
- Basic knowledge of the unclaimed property.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- General office conditions including minimal lifting; some travel necessary.
- Candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check requiring fingerprinting.
