About The Position
The Festival Quality Control Techniciancoordinates quality assurance tests on all exhibition media and creates technical reports for the festival projection team. Create DCPs for cinematic presentation and test KDMs. They will also play a supporting role to the Operations / Technical Managers on special presentations and events.
Dates of Employment: April 08 - May 24, 2024
Compensation: Hourly, $23.50/hr
Reports to: Associate Director of Cinema Technology
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
Inspects and transcodes video content to Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs)
Diagnoses technical problems and works with the Technical Manager to resolve them
Maintains a 48 hour lead on QC of all digital content
Works with Cinema Content Manager regarding KDM delivery, media issues, resolving QC issues with on-demand content, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
2 years of projection experience
Experience performing routine maintenance on cinema projection equipment
Experience setting up and operating basic AV equipment
Availability to work nights and weekends
Available to work on an "on-call" basis outside of regular office hours
Demonstrated commitment to racial equity
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with digital cinema
Familiarity with Apple, Microsoft, and Linux Operating Systems
Experience transcoding video
Proficiency with G Suite
Proficiency with Zoom
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both individually and as a team
Previous film festival experience

This is an FLSA overtime non exempt position (Overtime rates are 1.5x hourly rate)

Work Environment: This temporary position will work onsite at our Seattle office and specified theater/s.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact with patrons and coworkers, sit and stand for extended periods, physically assist patrons when needed, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
