Quality Control Lab Tech

Job Summary:

 

Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor and coordinating with the production department, the Quality Control Lab Tech primarily ensures the established food safety and quality standards are always met. The lab tech will undertake a variety of lab procedures of methodical nature. Lab techs handle sensitive equipment to analyze samples, conduct quality tests; and report the findings to the lab supervisor. The QC tech understands and upholds Enfield Farms’ continuous improvement culture.

 

This position is year round/ full time. Monday through Friday 4:30am to 3:30pm

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Collects and inspects fruit samples and packaging materials for quality according to USDA & customer specifications
  • Records all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy & responsibility
  • Always maintains a 5S work environment: sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain.
  • Clearly and concisely communicates with supervisors, managers, line operators and production employees
  • Monitors and documents production practices accurately in real time
  • Monitors and ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices for self and employees are always enforced and corrects/reports non-conformances immediately.
  • Stocks supplies in the lab as well as on the production floor such as personal protective equipment, soap, sanitizer stations, and paper towels.
  • Commits to quality work by checking work carefully and strives to be efficient and productive
  • Promptly notifies and documents any food safety/quality concerns to QC Lead/QC Supervisor
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training.
  • Conduct metal detector and check weigher checks
  • Collect shelf life and sample retains to send out to a third-party laboratory for pathogen and microbiological testing.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, bilingual Spanish and English Preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, autonomously and in a team setting.
  • Reliable attendance is important in meeting the needs of the Company.
  • Possess excellent cultural sensitivity skills.
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback for continuous growth.

 

Work Environment :

 

  • Typical production and manufacturing setting.
  •  Cold (non-weather conditions).

 

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will be regularly communicating by telephone, and in person, and must have the ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
