Federal Proposal Writer, Education
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Federal Proposal Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing and editing, with specific experience in crafting proposals for federal government contracts, primarily the US Department of Education. The Federal Proposal Writer will play a crucial role in developing compelling and compliant proposals that address the needs of government agencies and demonstrate our organization's capabilities and expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researching and understanding the requirements of federal government solicitations, including requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), and requests for information (RFIs).
- Collaborating with subject matter experts, technical teams, and key stakeholders to gather information and develop proposal content.
- Crafting compelling value propositions that clearly articulate the benefits and value of our solutions to government agencies' needs and objectives.
- Writing clear, concise, and persuasive proposal narratives that highlight our organization's strengths, solutions, and past performance.
- Ensuring all proposal content is compliant with government solicitation requirements, including adherence to formatting guidelines, page limits, and submission instructions.
- Managing the proposal development process from kickoff to submission, including organizing proposal schedules, facilitating meetings, and tracking action items.
- Editing and proofreading proposal content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readability.
- Working closely with graphic designers and other team members to create visually appealing proposal layouts and graphics.
- Conducting quality assurance reviews of completed proposals to identify and address any issues or gaps.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of proposal processes, templates, and best practices.
- Staying current on industry trends, government procurement policies, and best practices for Federal Proposal development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Federal Proposal writing, preferably in a government contracting environment, with a proven track record of wins.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and technical content under tight timelines.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information in short periods of time.
- Strong skills related to writing clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and consistency in work products.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple concurrent proposal efforts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with proposal management software (e.g., SharePoint, GovWin, or similar tools).
- Experience working with government proposal evaluation criteria, such as past performance evaluations, technical approach assessments, and cost/price analysis.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., APMP certification) are a plus.
