CHIEF Estimator – FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION
Job Responsibilities
As a Chief Federal Construction Estimator you will produce cost estimates from RFP’s, IFB’s, RFQ’s or Design Builds from the conceptual phase through the Project Closeout.
Other responsibilities of the Federal Construction Estimator’s role include:
· Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, Sub-Contractor’s by Division, materials, and labor expenses.
· Attend Job site observations during Job Walks.
· Takeoffs from Plans and Specifications
· Design Build Estimating and Coordination
· Reading and interpreting plans and repair specifications from engineers and architects
· Incorporating OSHA and building code requirements into all estimates
· Preparing cost statements at regular intervals for the duration of the project
· Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide cost-effectiveness
· Develop project plans for the duration of the project
· Prepare Potential Change Orders for submission to the Government with complete backup documentation required.
· Review Sub Contractors requests for change orders and thoroughly review for accuracy and discrepancies.
Accurately predicting the cost, size, and duration of future construction projects is vital to the survival of businesses.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
As a Cost Estimator you must be able to produce detailed estimates from preliminary design through the construction phase. You must have previous experience liaising with architects and engineers. Ideal candidates have knowledge and experience working with conceptual drawings and are able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Other requirements of the Federal Construction Estimator role include:
· High school diploma or GED
· Associates degree in construction science or construction management or equivalent combination of training and work experience
· At least 5 to 10 years of experience
· Strong knowledge of construction methods
· Excellent problem solving skills
· Strong customer service skills
· Ability to manage projects independently
· Ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time.
