Tabula Rasa Farms is a 440 acre, diversified, regenerative farm that sits amongst the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range, 4 miles west of Carlton, OR. We have an integrated livestock and garden operation where we raise grass-fed/grass-finished cattle, forested and pasture-raised heritage breed hogs, laying hens, and turkeys. Our 3 acre market garden runs a 4-season program growing 140 varieties of vegtables and fruits supporting local restaurants and a CSA program.

Requirements
Roles and Responsibilities:
Implement & manage all daily livestock & farm operations maximizing efficient use of labor, feed, equipment and time:
Establish budgets and timelines
- Scheduling and coordinating farm team
- Implementing chore SOPs per season
- Researching & purchasing of Feed grains, hay, supplements, equipment & other supplies.
- Identifying and sorting through priorities in a complex and evolving work environment, able to react to shifting priorities due to weather, grazing conditions, staffing, vet calls, etc.
- Develop and maintain accurate farm records including: livestock herd, feed, supplements, vet health records, all supplier resources.
- Develop and maintain soil and pasture metrics, along w/forested lands
- Identify and develop synergies among the larger organization & community particularly compost and food waste systems that benefit the land and animals
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization and appearance of farm facilities and machinery
Livestock and Pasture Management responsibilities:
Work to develop and implement all farm activities :
- Rotational grazing schedules for all enterprises
- Day to day animal health & well being: feeding systems, water systems, shelter protocols.
- Maintain and repair all Livestock feed, shade, and watering systems
- Maintain orderly livestock facility operations Ie: barns, shop, supplies, & yards
- Cattle operations including but not limited to calving, tagging, breeding, weaning, pasture moves, permanent fence and corral maintenance, doctoring, low stress handling of all livestock.
- Develop appropriate livestock feeding protocols and forecasting of animal feed consumption.
- Keep accurate records of harvested hay, feed consumption and supplements fed for cost analysis
- When applicable, participate in feedstuff production, irrigating, raking, baling, of both irrigated and dryland hay.
- Direct & Work with farm team in seeding and irrigating of grasses or other planted crops.
- Operate and maintain both manual tools and farm equipment to clean pens and manure in conjunction with the making of compost and applying to fields.
- Train and supervise other employees
Equipment & Safety
- Coordination with both Farm & Maintenance Team to facilitate repairs and daily upkeep of equipment
- Plan, execute, and perform safety meetings for all livestock operations employees on a regular basis.
- Work to align team on safe and proper operation of all farm equipment
If you think this job is for you, here are our preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal or Range Sciences or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or min 5 yrs experience
- Min 3 years of similar supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience with cattle handling, herding and loading along with behavior, husbandry, and low stress management knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with rotational grazing systems
- Demonstrated experience managing facilities and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising employees
- Demonstrated experience operating all large, heavy, or small equipment typical of farm and ranch operations ie: tractors, skid steer, stock trailers, chainsaw and other farm implements.
- Great organizational skills, short and long term planning.
- Goal setting with agreements on completion of goals
- Experience with project management.
- Ability to work within a team and organize work within that team
- Experience with managing and organizing work with complex scheduling.
- Experience with conducting and organizing training
- Passion for regenerative agriculture, permaculture/water retention and building a fully diversified business using regenerative principles
- Computer skills necessary: Microsoft suite minimum (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Understand the importance of consistent and honest communication
Physical Job Requirements
- Must be able to physically work in an industrial/farming environment and extended hours during peak seasons, regular shifts required to be on call.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record at all times
- Have valid CDL or ability to obtain one
- Must have mechanical ability to maintain and operate equipment, stock watering systems & irrigation

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring 45-60 hours of work per week. Weekend work is required and scheduled on a rotational basis.
