At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. The Family Resource Specialist works with families to achieve stability and prevent future youth homelessness. They engage families to provide onsite financial assistance and/or resource navigation. The Family Resource Specialist will work specifically with young families and families with kids ages 8-17 ages. They also respond to community calls, collaborate with community partners, and work collaboratively across Cocoon House programs to ensure consistency of care for youth and families.

Family Resource Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
Full-Time | On-site in Everett
Wages: $21-$23/hr | +$1.50/hr pay differential for multi-lingual skills
Resource Navigation and Outreach:
- Provide low-barrier one-time resource navigation and financial support to eligible families.
- Collaborate with the Family Advocates and Youth Advocates to provide ongoing support if needed.
- Outreach to community agencies, businesses, tabling events, etc. to ensure families know about the resources Cocoon House’s Prevention team provides.
- Build relationships with community partners, support Family Advocates build a caseload, and gather community resources for families in Snohomish County.
Caregiver Classes and Seminars:
- Provide support for WayOUT seminars and other educational classes each month.
- Collaborate with coworkers and community partners to present a strong diversion workshop to families.
- Conduct parenting classes throughout the year with the Prevention team.
Other Responsibilities:
- A commitment to being a part of Cocoon House’s equity, diversity, and inclusion work.
- Collect needed demographics and other information from attendees and complete all data entry associated with family case management and drop-in sessions in a complete and timely manner.
- Support other Cocoon House programs and the Director of Family Engagement to increase staff knowledge around family engagement and Prevention work as needed.
This position is typically a 9am-5pm work schedule with required evening flexibility two days each week to meet with families, as needed. This position also requires up to one weekend each month to conduct the WayOut Seminar with weekday schedule adjusted to accommodate.

General:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Clear a background check with DCYF.
- Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.
- Strong and effective communication skills; proficiency in crisis intervention/de-escalation.
- Knowledge of issues facing youth, adolescent development, and strengths-based approaches preferred.
- Individuals with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Two years of experience working in human services with at least one year of experience with teens or parents of teens preferred.
- Experience in facilitation preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Physical:
- Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds;
- Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping;
- Running for brief periods of time; and
- Go up and down stairs.
