Job Title: Family Foundation and Major Gifts Manager
Department: External Affairs
Reports to: AVP of Development
Location: Hybrid in NYC
Salary Range: $80K-100K*

Position Overview:
As a Family Foundation and Major Gifts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our Development Department by securing gifts from Family Foundations, individuals, and volunteer sponsorships. This position requires a seasoned fundraising professional with a proven track record in proposal writing, gift solicitation, relationship building, and a passion for connecting donors with the organization's mission. You will be responsible for a portfolio of donors and strategically cultivating relationships to secure gifts ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. Additionally, the role involves spearheading efforts to sustain partnerships through volunteer sponsorships.
Responsibilities:
Family Foundation and Individual Giving Strategy:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Family Foundation and Major Gifts strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of contributing gifts within the $5,000 to $25,000 range.
  • Create individualized cultivation and solicitation plans and proposals for each donor in portfolio.
Donor Cultivation:
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective major donors through personalized communication, meetings, and events.
  • Conduct research to identify new major gift prospects and understand their philanthropic interests.
Solicitation and Stewardship:
  • Support and at times, lead the solicitation process, making direct asks for Major Gifts and ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up.
  • Develop and execute stewardship plans to ensure donors feel valued and engaged, providing regular updates on the impact of their contributions.
Pipeline Management:
  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of Family Foundation and individual major gift prospects, tracking progress through the donor pipeline.
  • Regularly assess the status of each prospect and adjust strategies as needed to maximize giving potential.
Collaboration with Development Team:
  • Work collaboratively with the development team to align Major Gifts strategies with overall fundraising goals.
  • Provide support for organizational events and initiatives that may involve major donors.
Volunteer Sponsorships:
  • Establish and maintain a program for volunteer sponsorships, securing commitments to support specific volunteer initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program managers to identify volunteer opportunities aligned with donors' interests.
Writing and content development:
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience developing custom proposals for donors, grant proposals, case for support, and stewardship reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business administration, or communications). Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising with proven success in securing significant financial support.
  • Strong understanding of the mental health landscape and social services sector.
