What your job will be like:
The selected candidate will support the design efforts for several high technology projects working in the Experimental Nuclear Physics Division. Responsibilities also include integration of work with other systems such as instrumentation, power, utility and civil construction. The designer will be tasked to turn concepts and ideas into design for working assemblies and systems with the guidance of engineers and senior designer. Produce accurate, moderately complex, and cost-effective fabrication documentation (3D modeling, assembly, drafting and fabrication drawings) using Siemen's NX and/or other equivalent CAD software packages such as IDEAS Modeler. The designer will be required to plan work assignments and maintain schedule. In addition, the designer may be tasked to follow projects through purchasing, fabrication, and installation.
In this role you will:
Completes design drafter tasks of moderate complexity
Plans work for short term and intermediate assignments and coordinate work with others in the group.
Track planning work flow to generate complex designs such as magnets, detectors, lasers, pressure systems, specialty materials, optical testing equipment, machine and structural components, vacuum components, precision tooling and electro-mechanical devices.
Develop concepts and ideas into working assemblies and integrated systems. Produce accurate and cost-effective fabrication documentation (3D modeling, assembling and orthogonal drawings).

5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated experience using NX with Teamcenter and I-deas, 2D Autocad
Familiar with geometric dimension, tolerance and tolerance stack-up analysis per ASME standards
Knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at component level
Ability to use a vernier caliper and tape measure with accuracy
Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team with other technical and professional staff
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under their own direction
