The Cobb FAC will serve victims in all six cities within Cobb County to include Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, Smyrna, Austell, and Powder Springs.
The role of the Licensed Counselor/therapist will be to conduct comprehensive assessments of victims and survivors of domestic and family violence to gather information about their mental health, social, and environmental factors. This includes evaluating clients' strengths, challenges, and treatment needs. The licensed counselor will develop treatment plans based on the assessment and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients. This role will deliver evidence-based therapeutic and trauma-focused interventions to clients across various modalities, such as individual, family, or group therapy. The counselor will use their clinical expertise to help clients navigate and overcome challenges related to mental health, relationships, trauma, or life transitions. This role will provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations, such as suicidal ideation, domestic violence incidents, or mental health crises. They will assess immediate safety needs, provide stabilization, connect clients to appropriate resources, and collaborate with other professionals within the center, including case managers and legal advocates, to ensure holistic care.
This role will maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and treatment outcomes, stay informed about current research and therapeutic approaches related to trauma and domestic violence, participate in regular case consultations, and team meetings, and provide psychoeducation to clients on topics such as healthy relationships, coping strategies, and self-care.
