Job description

Carlow University’s College of Health and Wellness and Department of Public Healthis seeking a full-time (9-month) faculty member for the Oakland campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to begin on January 8, 2024.
The full-time, tenure-track (dependent on experience) faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in the Department of Public Health and will serve as the advisor/coordinator for the surgical technology program. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarship. Primary teaching responsibilities will focus on the Department of Public Health course offerings. The Department of Public Health offers undergraduate bachelor’s degrees - Public Health, Healthcare Data Analytics, and Healthcare Management. The successful candidate will have expertise in one of these areas. The Department’s newest program offering is the Associate of Science Degree in Surgical Technology, a joint degree program with UPMC Health System. Administrative release time is provided to serve as the primary liaison between the Department and the UPMC School of Surgical Technology, working collaboratively with team members to ensure the program's success, including the day-to-day management of the non-clinical aspects of the program and student advisement. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with educational preparation and experience.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, ScD, DHS, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching and use of educational technology in an academic setting.
  • Evidence of leadership experience.
  • An active research or clinical scholarship program and a track record of publications and grant activity, or the potential to develop such a program of research/scholarship.
