Description

Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Radiation Oncology, on the physician-scientist pathway.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington, Medicine (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty who is a board certified or board eligible Radiation Oncologist with either an MD/PhD or MD as a member at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Human Biology and Radiation Oncology Divisions of Fred Hutch and the Department of Radiation Oncology at the UW. The primary appointment will be in the Human Biology Division or other appropriate scientific division along with a joint appointment in the Radiation Oncology Division of Fred Hutch. The academic appointment in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

We are seeking a physician-scientist who is a board certified or board eligible Radiation Oncologist and who has a laboratory research effort in an academic laboratory-based program relevant to the field of Radiation Oncology (e.g. cancer biology, radiation biology, immunology, cancer genomics, tumor microenvironment, radiation response in normal tissue/tumor, translational research, etc.).

This Faculty Position will have a focus in translational research with significant support and protected time for laboratory work with some additional expectation of clinical care and teaching. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of residents during outpatient rotations, participation in the resident didactic curriculum, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community.

Applicants will have completed their residency in an ACGME accredited program. The area of clinical focus will be determined by the programmatic needs of the Department, as well as the area of expertise in the case of established investigators. Experience in complex radiation treatment planning and delivery (VMAT, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)/stereotactic radiosurgery, IGRT, proton therapy etc.) are desired.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a board certified or board eligible Radiation Oncologist with either an MD/PhD or MD as an Assistant/Associate/Professor for a physician-scientist position.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $292,548 to $464,318 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank, from $340,826 to $521,688 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank, and from $394,863 to $615,126 for faculty hired at the Full Professor rank. Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and sign-on bonus.
