About the Team
The Technology Team at SWIB supports, implements & develops industry-leading systems and platforms to support SWIB’s diverse and complex set of investment portfolios and strategies. The team at SWIB strives to be a trusted advisor and partner to the business that is valued as a critical contributor to SWIB’s continued growth and success. We effectively leverage technology to derive the maximum value from it and achieve SWIB’s business goals. We keep technology aligned with SWIB’s future direction and operate SWIB’s technology according to industry standards.
Position Overview
The FactSet Business Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting SWIB departments that use FactSet and any downstream reporting that utilizes data from FactSet. This role will meet with business users, the vendor, and other areas of tech and data to prioritize initiatives, and to coordinate solutions that leverage the capabilities of the FactSet ecosystem.
Essential activities:
  • Collaborate with technology, business, and operations to support current processes, research and implement new solutions, and facilitate and document the prioritization of future projects/enhancements for the FactSet ecosystem.
  • Lead the maintenance and upgrades for FactSet and the related FactSet interfaces to other systems, such as imports from SWIB’s IBOR and exports to SWIB’s reporting data warehouse.
  • Support FactSet and the related systems by troubleshooting production errors, notifying users of the status, and submitting changes to prevent errors in the future.
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis of company and security data within FactSet and make corrections to the data or processes when necessary.
  • Translate business requirements into technology specifications.
  • Lead or assist with the design, development and testing of the solutions that will meet the needs of the business and grow the FactSet ecosystem.
  • Implement software testing, using either manual or automated programs testing, and evaluate results, including documenting and reporting defects or problems with software.
  • Continue to mature and evolve knowledge of investment management technologies and data to help drive SWIB’s business capabilities forward.
The ideal candidate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / Information Technology, Economics, or Finance.
  • 5-15 years of investment management industry and/or Information Technology experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with the various components and functionality of FactSet Risk is required.
  • Experience with FactSet’s Portfolio Analysis tool to measure the performance, risk, attribution, and exposures of portfolios.
  • Ability to customize FactSet’s Watchlist to monitor news, quotes, pricing, and other key information and set notification alerts for companies SWIB is tracking.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or other languages preferred.
  • Good understanding of risk data and risk workflow processes, including data loading, security modeling, and account and composite set-up.
  • Ability to document and communicate complex technical knowledge effectively.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technology specifications and design systems to meet the needs of the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal direction.
  • Ability to perform work as a technical/functional expert.
  • Ability to lead projects and independently drive and implement change.
  • Ability to perform complex analyses of strategic issues and resolve problems.
  • Ability to recommend strategic objectives and direction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions.

The position requires U.S. work authorization.
Pursuant to our Hybrid Remote Work Policy, all staff have the flexibility to work remotely, but are required to have a weekly presence in our offices, the frequency of which is dependent on their distance from office. Staff are not required to reside locally; however, we offer relocation reimbursement to the Dane County area per our policy.
All SWIB employees are subject to SWIB’s Ethics Policy and Personal Trade Approvals Policy. These policies include restrictions on outside business activities and employment and have limits on personal trading.
