Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire a Facilities Technician.Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver® technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis™ platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. About the Opportunity: The Facilities Technician is responsible to perform work alongside the Senior Facilities Tech. The right candidate will be able to gain experience to grow, including roles that are more involved with equipment and systems. This role will be based in Redwood City, CA. - Computer savvy - MS Office, other department tools such as ticket and procurement systems.
- Good communicator - verbally and written.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Performs work in maintenance trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
- Makes periodic or special inspections of equipment, utilities, and premises to determine repair work necessary.
- Performs work alongside the Senior Facilities Technician for scheduled and routine maintenance duties to support facilities operations, including inspection of compressed gas containers, filter checks and replacement, inspection of safety stations, monitoring fluid levels and related preventative maintenance functions; completes documentation of preventative checks performed.
- Visually inspects facilities for overall condition and potential maintenance needs including safety items and reports issues to facilities management.
- Assists with setting up offices or meeting rooms for new personnel, meetings, and special events; moves furniture, sets up equipment, and arranges signs, displays or decorations.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as Facilities technician, or Facilities maintenance, Production technician or a closely related field.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety guidelines and work in a safe manner.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
- Availability off hours, late afternoon
- Respond to alarms and emergencies
