Job Description
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for an experienced Facilities Project Engineer at our Proving Grounds in California City, CA.
Summary:
Plan and manage small and large facilities, equipment and construction projects in an Automotive Proving Ground environment. Develop new facilities and/or capabilities based on user requirements. Oversee all aspects of project management including conception, specification, financial justification, and implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Work with a wide range of stakeholders to develop new facilities and capabilities for automotive proving ground operations.
- Effectively lead projects with multiple stakeholders and align their objectives to meet project milestones.
- Develop accurate cost estimates and produce reports with business case and financial justification related to facility and equipment projects.
- Create technical specifications based on user requirements and communicate those requirements effectively with contractors/vendors. Review contracts and RFP's
- Manage vendors and Architectural/Engineering firms during project planning and design phase.
- Track, control, and report project status including spending and timing target achievement.
- Manage contractors and vendors to keep projects on track for spending and timing.

Compensation
- $80,000 - $100,000
Qualifications and Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in all directions, including users, management, suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
- Experience with roadway asphalt paving projects, asphalt testing, asphalt life prediction, asphalt specification, and asphalt maintenance highly desirable. Experience in the development of asphalt maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with integrity and ethical behavior.
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction/Project Management
- 5 years' experience in project / facilities management
- Experience working in an Automotive Proving Ground Environment
- Experience working in a culturally diverse team environment
Required Skills
- Experience with project management tools including Microsoft Project
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar tools desirable
- Familiar with CALOSHA, NFPA, and NEC
- Have the ability to read and follow blueprints
- Familiar with commercial building construction and operations
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Facility environment: exposure to fuel, compressed air/gas, emissions and exhaust fumes; pinching, tripping, electrical, and chemical hazards; bending and stooping required; must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and work safely with hand power tools. Field Environment - Field temperature ranges from -40º F to +120º F; altitude ranges from -300 ft. below sea level to +12,000 ft. above sea level. Use of Personal Protective Equipment required as required.
