The Facilities Manager will provide the on-going support and delivery of building services in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner. Responsibilities include leadership of the Facilities team, planning, building and employee safety, security and custodial functions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide direction, oversight and hands-on support in the repairs, maintenance, landscaping, and security of IFAW properties.
- Provide supervision, training, guidance and support to facilities staff. Introduce and train staff on new systems and equipment.
- Prioritize maintenance and project requests aligned with staff schedules to maintain timely delivery of facilities services throughout IFAW.
- Proactively monitor and provide reporting of building systems.
- Work with outside vendors who provide services to IFAW's building operations. These services may include but are not limited to water, gas, electric, landscaping, fire and life safety systems and equipment, drainage, sewer and septic systems, refuse removal and recycling, plumbing, H.V.A.C., elevators, emergency power, snow removal, building construction and repair, cleaning, disaster services, building security and moving of staff or equipment.
- Assist in the selection and monitoring of outside vendors of products and services. Obtain and document quotes/bid, evaluate proposals and make recommendations.
- Assist in the development and oversight of operating and capital budgets; operate within defined budget parameters.
- Perform snow and ice removal on paths, steps and walkways at all IFAW HQ properties.
- Participate in the planning, designing and construction of physical space. Maintain space plan documentation (i.e. blueprints, floor plans and other architectural drawings). Serve as a management resource to ascertain space-planning needs.
- Develop, maintain and test emergency evacuations plans and documents. Lead team of emergency coordinators. (IOC and HQ)
- Partner with Country Office directors or designee to ensure office safety plans are developed, tested and maintained.
- Coordinate activities with other departments to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
- Responsible for setting performance goals for Facilities staff, provide ongoing performance feedback, timely performance reviews, and supervising corrective actions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years facilities related experience required; working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, H.V.A.C., security, fire and life safety, elevators, painting, landscaping, small engine repair, vehicle maintenance, O.S.H.A. requirements, preventative maintenance, and energy management
- Demonstrated customer service skills are essential. Must communicate professionally, efficiently and effectively in all situations. Strong writing ability required
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Able to prioritize tasks and work
- Current Massachusetts's driver's license needed
- Weekend and evening work may be required
