Facilities Maintenance Technician
Allied West Paper Corp. (AWP) is an industry-leading, FSC-certified paper converter producing innovative bath tissue, paper towels, paper napkins, and facial tissue for the retail and commercial markets. We have an immediate opening for an Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our fast paced, growth oriented manufacturing company.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will ensure the AWP facility is operating efficiently, regularly inspecting the building for any damage, and conducting routine maintenance. General maintenance work includes, but is not limited to cleaning drains, changing light bulbs, painting etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall cleanliness – wash down dock doors, removal of dust and cobwebs.
- Plumbing – responds to clogged toilets/sinks, replacing toilet valves, changes water filters and contacts plumber for more involved items.
- HVAC – field calls on thermostat settings, programming thermostats, contacting the HVAC vendor for more involved items.
- Inspect roofs regularly – investigate any leaks and maintain roof exhaust fans.
- Dock doors – troubleshoot and fix minor repairs
- Maintain exit door locks
- Light bulbs and ballast – responsible for handling interior and exterior
- Inspect the building for any structural damage to windows, doors, and walls and perform necessary repairs or get bids from contractors to repair.
- Assist in removing Hazardous Waste from the facility.
- General property clean up and coordinating large item pick up and disposal.
- Oversee work performed by outside contractors, as necessary.
- Check building exterior for garbage, sweep parking lots and walks as needed.
- Pick up supplies at various vendor locations as required.
- Keep a record of completed repairs and when the equipment was last serviced.
- Handle additional maintenance tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience
- General Knowledge of heating and air conditioning units, plumbing systems, and electrical systems
- Bi-lingual - English/Spanish preferred
- Must be able to work independently and requires minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be able to lift and move objects of at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures.
