We are currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to enhance our team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to maintain the safety and cleanliness of airport facilities, buildings, and grounds for public use. This involves performing a diverse range of skilled labor tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, painting, and carpentry work, along with preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and fleet vehicles. Your skill in maintaining and operating both light and heavy equipment will also be essential for landscaping and snow removal. From mowing airfield grounds to testing high voltage runway and taxiway lights, inspecting fueling systems to performing parking lot repairs, your daily tasks will help ensure the smooth operation of DRO.
In recognition of your dedication, especially during snowplow shifts that may include weekends, nights, and holidays, we offer a $500 monthly bonus for snow removal from December through March.What You'll Do in This Role:
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, AAC units, airfield lighting, generators, gates, tract mowers, and other equipment.
- Maintain airport and airfield pavement surfaces, including roadways and parking lots, through crack sealing, painting, and curb repair.
- Conduct snow removal on runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas surrounding airport facilities.
- Provide grounds and landscaping upkeep, including lawn care, weed eradication, and fencing and sprinkler system maintenance; adhere to safety standards and meet all Part 139.307 and 139.309 requirements when mowing on airfield grounds.
- Skilled labor as needed, including plumbing, electrical, welding, painting, and carpentry work to repair airport facilities; use and understand design drawings when necessary.
- Inspect, test, and maintain airport fueling systems, including building spill protection and chemical fluid recovery systems.
- Collaborates with senior maintenance staff to monitor and report on facility conditions, ensuring they meet operational and appearance standards set by the Aviation Director.
- Operate light and heavy equipment required for excavation line repairs, roadway maintenance, snow removal, and mowing operations (e.g., forklifts, graders, backhoes, heavy plow trucks, high speed brooms, and rotary snow blowers).
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of airport fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Attend to custodial duties as assigned, including cleaning restrooms and offices, vacuuming floors, removing trash, disinfecting surfaces, and washing windows.
- Equivalent to completion of high school or GED.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to pass background check to work in TSA secured area.
- One to two years of experience in building and grounds maintenance.
- Understanding of building trades practices, tools, materials, equipment, and safety precautions including knowledge of airfield lights and navigation aids.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, FAA circulars, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Availability to work allocated hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts for snow removal.
