Descriptive Statement
This is a non-exempt, temporary position limited to 1300 hours annually. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent, the Temp Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform and assist in general maintenance and repair work on City facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist service technicians with installation, repair, and maintenance work on structures, fixtures, facilities, and equipment such as, flooring systems, electrical systems, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and sanitary systems.
- The individual will also assist in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, construction and other trades.
- This position also performs related maintenance duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical standards an employee must meet in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment and supplies weighing up to 80pounds
- Frequently standing and walking for prolonged periods of time to observe for safety hazards and perform daily functions
- Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs in a multi-level facility
- Using manual dexterity to manipulate supplies, tools, and equipment
- Using visual acuity (near/distant, color, depth perception, and night vision) to read operating manuals and instructions, read field or construction drawings, safely operate a vehicle or equipment, identify hazards, and perform daily functions
- Ability to perform frequent activities requiring a full range of body movements including sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, twisting, and balancing
- Ability to work safely in field conditions with hazards that include equipment operations, working at heights, hand and power tool operations, environmental exposure, chemical handling and use, and other job-specific hazards
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
This position requires:
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to perform general servicing, maintenance, and repair work on City owned buildings
- Working knowledge of and the ability to assist in general construction duties to include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and carpentry assignments
- Ability to recognize urgent situations and determine if the situation is unsafe, or if it requires the attention of professional tradesman or a supervisor
- Ability to use tools and equipment to include electrical/pneumatic, and hand tools
- Basic mathematical skills
- Physical strength to lift and carry required equipment and tools up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Skill and ability to communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities, the position requires:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States of America
- Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment
- License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification
- During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The selected candidate(s) will be required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check to include an MVR check.
All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act ("HFWA"). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
- The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
- The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
- The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or
- A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
