The Opportunity
As a dedicated Facilities Engineer, you'll provide continuous oversight and maintenance of a structural, mechanical, electrical, telecommunication design, or control system(s). Troubleshoot assigned systems, identifies issues and conducts or assigns repairs. Knowledgeable with the design and operation of building systems, specification writing, and project management. Uses technical familiarity with facility related initiatives for Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, telecommunication infrastructure, or Structural issues to develop solutions. Collaborates with Project Managers and Facility Managers of various disciplines to provide technical expertise to complete projects, maintenance, or repairs.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 - 5 days per week. This position is based in San Antonio, TX, Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Responsible for technical expertise to manage critical engineering/building systems disciplines and resolve complex facilities issues.
Makes recommendations to leadership on the design, development and management of programs and projects for mechanical, plumbing infrastructure strategies and water conservation.
Maintains knowledge across multiple building systems to ensure projects meet stated desired outcomes to support business operations.
Leads fact-finding efforts and applies innovative analysis of complex building operational engineering initiatives and makes recommendations to management by writing technical papers/Studies/ Evaluations/Reports.
Performs facility condition assessments and makes recommendations to management for Capital Renewal. Contributes to facilities annual work planning (FAWP).
Monitors and evaluates technical aspects of compliance, risk and Third- Party supplier performance; provides input to USAA Service Delivery Evaluation Process.
Serves as a resource to team members and provides guidance on resolving issues and/or escalations.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored.
Reviews Purchased Utility bills and performs energy conservation analysis and makes recommendations.
Occasional travel to Regional Offices in the Portfolio.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
4 years of experience in Facility Engineering.
Strong understanding of Building Automation Systems.
Experience in Project Management.
Experience with designing and reviewing facilities design documents; HVAC, plumbing, boilers, building automation controls design, development and review.
Strong knowledge and understanding of facilities policies, standards, procedures, code compliance and detailed design documents.
Strong knowledge of laws and regs (i.e., Hazardous Materials Regulation, OSHA, etc.).
Must be able to climb a ladder and walk a construction site.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
What sets you apart:
Mechanical Engineering Degree
Experience in equipment commissioning
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and spreadsheets

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $81,770 - $156,290. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
