The Seals and Bearings business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.
We use advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia materials to engineer lightweight, low-friction bearings and seals. These materials help solve the problems associated with the use of lubricants in extreme temperatures, corrosive or hygienic environments where access is restricted, and are engineered into products which provide customer-specific solutions.
Key Figures: Revenue £1,112m (2022), ~8,500 employees, manufacturing in 30+ countries, and a global customer portfolio. A UK PLC with head office located in Windsor, Berkshire UK. Listed on London Stock Exchange; Member of the FTSE 250 Index.
Responsibilities
Through the use of sound engineering principles and data, identifies and champions projects that support site continuous improvement and ESG objectives in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Support the development and implementation of the site capital investment plan through project management of both standalone facilities and EHS/ESG projects as well as support for other key site projects from a Facilities Engineering perspective. Responsible for contractor management during project work. Perform roles and responsibilities in accordance with direction from the Facilities Maintenance Manager while working cross functionally with both the Manufacturing Engineering and Process Engineering Mangers or EHS staff as needed.
Essential Functions:
  1. Shares responsibility for the overall safety and environmental issues associated with the manufacturing processes and equipment at the site. Participates in all plant safety initiatives to achieve site goals.
  2. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement via tracking of site metrics in the areas of safety, energy/water utilization, operational costs, maintenance costs, production equipment uptime, and improved monitoring.
  3. Performs research, design, and recommendations on current industry best practices around facility processes and equipment that includes lowering energy consumption, water reductions, and minimization of waste from site operations.
  4. Champions capital projects through the entire process including obtaining required quotes, preparing justification documentation, submission of the capital expenditure request, tracking of spending, and management of contractors.
  5. Works closely with the Facilities Maintenance Manager on site projects and major equipment replacements.
  6. Support site 6S activities, participate in 6S events, and ensure they are aligned with company expectations.
  7. Assist the EHS Manager with tracking and monitoring of environmental metrics supporting the 2030 ESG Goals.
  8. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  9. Manage and lead complex projects involving cross-functional teams based on a broad scope of Facilities Engineering.
  10. Participates in engineering design reviews with both process and manufacturing engineering.
  11. Evaluates, troubleshoots, and solves equipment and infrastructure issues throughout the site.
  12. Assists in training of maintenance and/or shop floor associates on facilities equipment as needed.
  13. Devise methods, design and build special devices or equipment as needed.
  14. Oversees the management of the Morgan Lodge property maintenance and equipment.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • S. degree in engineering field is with minimum 5 years of industrial experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Trained in the use of Pro-Engineer/Creo, AUTOCAD, or other modeling design software is desired.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean/Six-Sigma Manufacturing techniques is desired.
  • Experience writing capital requests and managing larger projects is desired.

Additional Requirements:
  • Safety orientated and high attention to detail.
  • An OHSA 30 Hour Certification for General Industry.
  • Basic knowledge of the NEC, Building, and Fire Codes.
  • Additional training in ergonomics and machine guarding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with high performance teams.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers, and superiors in all departments of the Company.
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
  • Must have good time management, planning, and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of blueprint reading, electrical schematics, and P&ID.
