Scope:
General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.
The Facilities Plant Engineer will be responsible for the planning, development, and coordination of engineering and construction activities with regard to facilities, utilities, layout of machines, equipment, work stations, test facilities, material handling and storage systems necessary for production.

- Good communication skills are essential in the preparation of cost estimates and written specifications for equipment procurement and installation.
- Previous experience in a team-based environment is beneficial.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will possess not only excellent communication and interpersonal skills but also a strong work ethic contributing to the team's success in meeting multiple objectives both efficiently and economically.
- A thorough knowledge of the following is required: plant layout, material handling and storage techniques, and equipment / systems installation and modification to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, welding, painting, and metal preparation.
- The successful candidate will also be knowledgeable in NFPA 70E, OSHA / health and safety, environmental, and ergonomic standards.
- Computer knowledge with a strong Solid Modeling background preferred, an understanding of engineering layouts is a must.
- Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.
- Determining facility and equipment specifications.
- Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.
- Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
- Reviewing project plans and interpreting developments throughout the process, giving advice and guidance for necessary changes.
- Ensuring the facility complies with relevant regulations.
- Develops basic, routine conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the architectural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds.
- Uses appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters.
- Coordinates designs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Background Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering is preferred) accompanied with 2 - 5 years’ experience.
- Good communication skills, oral, written, & visual
- Demonstrate project management and organizational skills
- Able to perform problem solving and root cause analysis
- Proficient with computers and software including MS Office Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
