Job Description: Maintenance and Courier
Position Overview:Facilities Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall functionality of the school environment. This position combines custodial support with outdoor maintenance and landscaping, indoor upkeep, and courier responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Outdoor Upkeep and Maintenance:
- Comply with all safety and code requirements for outdoor spaces.
- Utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies for pest control.
- Clean parking lots and remove graffiti.
- Perform necessary landscaping tasks.
- Conduct pressure washing of exterior surfaces.
- Maintain and mount signage as needed.
- Paint outdoor surfaces as necessary.
- Facilitate external services or coordinate with contractors when needed.
- Ensure proper maintenance of rooftop drainage systems and removal of debris.
- Provide support for sidewalk maintenance.
Indoor Upkeep and Maintenance:
- Comply with all safety and code requirements for indoor spaces.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies for pest control indoors.
- Support inventory management as needed.
- Facilitate external services or coordinate with contractors for indoor maintenance.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Safely navigate and perform tasks in attic and crawl space areas.
- Build and maintain furniture as necessary.
- Hang and mount objects securely to walls.
- Perform basic plumbing maintenance tasks.
- Assist in moving objects for staff and rearranging furniture.
- Set up and take down events as required.
- Monitor and provide support during events.
- Inspect HVAC filters, vents, and ductwork.
- Inspect, repair, or replace ceiling tiles as needed.
- Paint, service, and repair walls as necessary.
Custodial Backup and Maintenance:
- Act as the backup custodian for cleaning and maintaining school facilities, including classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and outdoor spaces.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Courier and Student Support:
- Support the delivery of student materials, devices, supplies, and documents to and from student residence as needed.
- Assist school staff with miscellaneous pickup and delivery needs.
- Provide courteous and efficient customer service to students, parents, and staff members during pickups and deliveries.
Other Skills:
- Proficient with Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc.).
- Strong internet navigation and research skills.
- Familiarity with school software (Database, etc.).
- Excellent customer service skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade school or relevant maintenance certification is a plus.
- Possess strong organizational skill and attention to detail.
- Capable of following directions and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Exhibit proficient communication skills and maintain professionalism in interactions.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair tasks.
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physically capable of lifting and transporting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Compensation and Schedule:
- Hourly wage: $25 per hour.
- Work schedule: The Maintenance and Courier Person will work 240 days a year. The schedule will be coordinated with the school's operational needs, and may include flexible days and hours as required.
