Fabricator/Welder

Maintenance Fabricator/Welder, Santa Maria, CA

Fresh Venture Foods, a fresh-cut produce processing facility located in Santa Maria, California is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fabricator/Welder primarily for 1st shift and will be responsible for performing specialized welding and fabricating duties related to food processing equipment improvements, repairs, and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

· Apply various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc) for fabrication and repair purposes.

· Interpret prints, drawings, plans, or job write-ups and apply fabrication or welding techniques to complete projects.

· Conceptualize projects from job specifications and be able to form drawings as needed.

· Use various metal working equipment, such as lathe, mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.

· Use various hand tools and properly select specific tools for the appropriate projects.

· Follow NSF/ANSI minimum food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, construction, and performance of food handling and processing equipment.

· Follow CMMS guidelines to complete work assigned in a timely manner.

· Maintain shop, welding area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner.

· Work in a safe, efficient, and organized manner.

· Must ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as required.

· Follow all safety requirements and ensure the safety of others.

· Train others in fabrication techniques.

· Maintain reliability expectations by having reliable and predictable attendance.

· Performs other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

· Minimum 2 years of proven experience in fabricating fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.

· Must be able to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.

· Must have a high mechanical aptitude and be able to use various mechanical hand and power tools and equipment.

· Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment.

· Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Good organizational skills.

· Good understanding of industrial maintenance terminology, parts, and equipment.

· Basic knowledge of electricity.

· Basic math and analytical skills.

· Bi-lingual (Spanish/English is highly preferred)

· Good understanding of OSHA regulations and chemical storage and labeling requirements. Read and interpret SDS.

· Ability to operate a forklift or electric pallet jack; must pass the certification process

DEGREES/ CERTIFICATES/ LICENSE/ EXPERIENCE:

Welding/Trade School and weld certifications are desired

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for a prolonged time, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Exposure to food manufacturing environment and cold (34◦F - 36◦F) and wet conditions.

Selected applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Salary: $24.00-$34.42 (based on experience, skill and certification)
