Position Summary
Working in a shop environment repairing and refurbishing all types of trash and recycling containers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair all Front-Load and Roll-Off containers in accordance with Atlas standards.
- Manage staging area where Front Load bins are staged by the Bin delivery driver,
- Place bins in the ready line when complete.
- Construct, repair, and refurbish carts.
- Keep yard and shop area clean, this may include trash pickup, sweeping, and moving containers.
- Completes required paperwork associated with repairing containers, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
- Paint containers as needed.
- Performs other maintenance-related requirements.
- Any duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Qualified in the welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, and brazing, on a variety of materials.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Ability to operate hand tools, hammers, scrapers, wrenches, and in a safe manner.
- Ability to Perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal & plastic parts.
- Ability to work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to pass a certified state of California's forklift safety course.
- Familiarity with welding machines, cutting torches, grinders sanders, and other power tools and the ability to use them safely.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test, paint frontload containers & roll-off boxes.
- Ability to understand instructions in written and verbal English.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Atlas / OSHA standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Ability to work well under pressure, independently, or as a team.
- Valid CA driver's license
Work Environment and Expectations
This is a full-time, non-exempt in-shop position. The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 6:00 am 2:30 pm.
This position will require
- Use motor coordination with finger dexterity most of the workday.
- Be exposed to physical occupational risks frequently, such as cuts and burns.
- Be exposed to a physical environment that involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements, occasionally.
- Possess the mobility to use ladders and forklift equipment.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to move containers up to 5 cubic yards on casters, by pushing or pulling manually.
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and other physical requirements as necessary to complete the essential duties and responsibilities.
