Description & Requirements
Fabricator to work in a food manufacturing environment on the maintenance team.
Starting Rate: $30.50/hour
Shift: 1st
Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
The primary responsibility of this position is to fabricate parts according to the plant needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require:
  • Fabricate parts according to what it is needed to fix or be constructed.
  • Complete jobs in a timely manner as directed by management
  • Observe the process or processes to better understand the objective of the assignment.
  • Coordinate duties and time to maintain several projects in progress at the same time.
  • Responsible for ordering required material to complete projects.
  • Follow specified instructions, drawings and plans with knowledgeable input
Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • Lock out/Tag out
  • Pallet Jack and Fork Lift Certification
TRAINING REQUIREMENT/METHODS:
All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties. Once employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orientate the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.
Employee is required to attend a maintenance supplemental safety training class for required safety related work practices conducted by the Safety department as a new hire and review annually with supervisor. Employee will be required to review and sigh off acknowledgment of all required PPE for safe work practices assigned to his scheduled tasks.

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Those responsible for training and indoctrination may include: personnel representative, safety director, supervisor, and lead workers as assigned.
METHOD OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESS:
The supervisor is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.
EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS
A specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate the employee effectiveness and performance. At the end of this period the supervisor will evaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms and procedures in effect at that time. The employee will be rated and evaluated on essential work duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workers and management, attitudes and work actions. Unacceptable performance of duties, disciplinary actions will be documented on corrective action reports and appropriate personnel records. Absent any negative actions, the employee may be eligible for a wage increase according to wage and salary policies in effect at that time following facilities testing and training programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking, bending frequently, squatting, lifting over 50 lbs, climbing ladders and stairs occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Employee may be required to temporarily work odd shifts and hours to complete given projects.

SAFETY FACTORS TO BE AWARE OF:

  • Always be aware of pallet jack traffic (electric and hand jack)
  • Be aware of others in area while welding or grinding
