You will be conducting first article checks, checking final weldments before they leave the department, and working with fabricators to help create products that exceed customer expectations.
Essential Functions
- Inspect, monitor, and ensure all quality standards are met for parts moving through the fab department.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation and checklists for all inspections or tests of every process, part, or component, both purchased or finished, that are involved in the production of a product.
- Identify each problem or issue regarding the quality of the products and make recommendations for changes for improvements.
- Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required
- Assist in the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action
- Label and stage parts leaving the department accordingly
- Perform first-article inspections, in process inspections, and final inspections
- Maintain, stage, and organize a proper level of welding supplies

Qualifications and Experience
Required: at least 2 years’ experience in a Fabrication Quality control position
Preferred: 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial position in an industrial fabrication shop or industrial industry
Preferred: 5 years’ experience as a fabricator
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and interpret weld symbols
Work Environment
GK Machine makes every effort to provide a pleasant, environmentally controlled office and facility atmosphere. However, this position will be required to spend some time in the fabrication shop, warehouse, and outdoors in the storage yard in all types of weather, and will be exposed to dust, dirt, fumes, etc.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The employee may be asked to perform overtime.
