Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fabrication Shop Supervisor to oversee our team of fabricators. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and structural fabrication, with a deep understanding of both 2D and 3D drawings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting customer expectations, breaking down drawings and bill of materials, and assembling quotes based on time and material.
Responsibilities
- Quickly and clearly read, interpret, and understand both 2D and 3D drawings to meet customer expectations.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills to effectively work with the sales team and interface with clients.
- Utilize extensive experience in breaking down drawings and bill of materials to assemble accurate quotes.
- Oversee a team of fabricators, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Time management and delegation of responsibilities to ensure that your team stays productive
- Maintain high levels of quality control to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Anticipate and manage current and foreseeable supply and demand challenges.
- Fabricate metal components according to blueprints and specifications
- Operate various tools and equipment such as welding machines, stick welders, cranes, and pipe threaders
- Perform welding tasks using different techniques including stick welding
- Measure and cut materials accurately using tools such as calipers
- Assemble fabricated parts to create finished products
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and structural fabrication.
- Experience with a Plasma Table, Break Press, Welding Machine, Plasma Cutter, Hydraulic Press and Die, as well as other typical fabrication and hand tools.
- Proficient in reading and understanding both 2D and 3D drawings and follow specifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience in project management, including time and material quote assembly.
- Ability to be firm yet supportive, fostering a positive team environment.
- Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication.
- Proficient in welding techniques, particularly stick welding and tig welding.
- Familiarity with pipe threading processes.
- Strong mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials accurately.
- Knowledge of ductwork fabrication is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with excellent hand-eye coordination.
