Job Summary:
Under general direction, this position is responsible for research, planning, design, development, maintenance and performance of Core and Wide Area Network equipment. The incumbent is a deep technical expert in Network Engineering. The incumbent is responsible for resolving highly complex technical and performance problems and automating highly complex tasks. This position engages with research and development activities to define new processes and technology standards for improving the department's productivity and operations.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for designing, engineering and managing the installation and maintenance of a wide variety of Networking equipment and tools. J.B. Hunt Networking is responsible for a wide range of networking equipment and services across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and manages the engineering and configuration of Arista, Fortinet, and/or Juniper/Mist Wireless network networking hardware, software, and systems (OSPF/BGP/Route/Switch).
- Design, Engineer, and manage Cloud connectivity over multiple redundant circuits, data centers, fabric interconnects, and public clouds.
- Design, Engineer, and manage Cloud Networking in multiple public and private clouds, including VPC, Firewall Rules/Polices, Load Balancing, Kubernetes, Interconnects, and Private Link / Peering
- Designs and manages the engineering and configuration of F5 LTM, ASM, DNS/GLSB hardware, software, and systems (L7).
- Designs and manages the engineering and configuration of Cisco FirePower NGFW, Fortinet, Palo Alto hardware, software, and systems (Perimeter).
- Layer 1-7 troubleshooting using multiple tools including ExtraHop, SolarWinds, DynaTrace, ICMP, SSH, nmap, Wireshark/OmniPeek, Linux
- Work closely with Cyber-Security groups to evaluate and fortify posture of connected devices, evaluate and act upon indications from Attack Surface Management tools.
- Design and manage Network Access tools including VPN, ZTNA and NAC.
- Network Automation using tools including Ansible, Terraform, expect, JavaScript, Perl, Python.
- Designs and manages the installation and maintenance of Core and Wide Area Network networking hardware, software, and systems.
- Provides experienced support to more junior Network Engineers in resolving complex network events.
- Executes complex Network Engineering tasks such as providing direction in selection of network vendors and products.
- Works closely with the Network Engineers by resolving complex network events.
- Researches new technologies to expand current network capabilities.
- Continues to develop and apply expertise in a chosen primary field of Network Engineering while maintaining knowledge in Network Engineering as a discipline.
- Assists in developments of overall network designs to meet business requirements while maintaining current industry trends.
- Implements new network technologies that result in improved performance and lower overall cost of ownership.
- Assists or takes on projects using software defined network programming language.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training;
- Plus 9 years of experience in Network Engineering.
OR
- Masters degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training;
- Plus 6 years of experience in Network Engineering.
