Job Overview:
We are seeking a mature, patient, compassionate and dedicated individual to provide essential daily care and support to a high functioning 23 YO male who lives independently but requires assistance to facilitate meeting day-to-day responsibilities, including medication management.
Client is highly intelligent but struggles to succeed/thrive with executive functioning due to ADHD, Asperger’s and OCD.
Client desires to succeed in life and establish a viable path toward growing independence, making the overarching goal of this role to support the individual to make healthy life choices with dignity.
Companion Duties Include:
-Assisting individual with daily living activities including logistics/transportation to shopping, work and appointments.
-Medication administration and oversight.
-Facilitating client’s completion of routine housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping and other community activities, as well as planning and preparing meals, and providing guidance on proper nutrition.
Accompanying client to appointments, including medical appointments and AA meetings.
-Providing emotional support and companionship.
Overarching goal and care provider’s responsibility is centered around ensuring the safety and well-being of individual while supporting growth toward responsible independence. A desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others is important.
Companion Requirements Include:
-A minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in patient care or home care.
-Associate’s degree required/BA preferred,
-Applied Behavior Analysis fABA) training also highly preferred.
-Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
-Ability to effectively communicate with individual, their family, and healthcare professionals.
-Basic understanding of medical systems and procedures.
-Familiarity with first aid techniques and CPR certified.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
-Due to the nature of support for this individual a male service provider is preferred.
-Must be willing to utilize a personal vehicle to provide transportation.
Applicants must provide a valid copy of their current driver’s license, evidence of in effect car insurance ($100,000/$500,000 coverage) and the following:
1. Criminal record check
2. Drug Test
3. BDS/BEAS background check
4. Motor vehicle Driving Record
5. Hire Right check.
6. TB test
Compensation:
-$20 - 30 per hour with a guarantee of 40 hours weekly.
-Work is full-time, but in “block-time” format, meaning care is provided for several hours per day but not necessarily continuous hours and daily schedule varies.
