About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Expediting and Logistics Leadin Houston, Texas to lead a global Procurement team supporting the Dow-executed projects on the Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero Program.
The Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero program will create the first net-zero emissions site of its kind in the world. The FS P2Z program is a key enabler to Dow's Decarbonization strategy. Learn More: Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero (dow.com).
This role has responsibility for the successful and on-time delivery of equipment to meet project and construction schedules. The Lead will work closely with key stakeholders in Construction, Project teams, Engineering, Project Controls, etc. to develop and implement robust Expediting/Logistics work processes, performance metrics, and communication and reporting protocol needed for execution.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervisory leadership for a global team of Expeditors and Logistics Coordinator personnel.
  • Lead the Expeditor and Logistics Coordinator hiring process, workload evaluation, performance management/evaluation, knowledge transfer, and training.
  • Oversee Expeditor and Logistic Coordinator performance and support when escalation is required.
  • Drive team celebrations and recognition when milestones are met.
  • Owns the Expediting and Logistics work processes including all training manuals, procedures, Intranet sites, etc.
  • Provide expertise and industry experience to day-to-day problem solving and resolving issues. For Logistics technical issues, engage 3rd party expertise to help resolve.
  • Serves as focal point for internal/external audits for the Expediting and Logistics group by ensuring compliance with the Expediting and Logistics work processes.
  • Accountable for overall Expediting and Logistics compliance to the Purchase Order deliverables.
  • Manage interfaces with other Natural Work Groups (Supplier Document Control, Inspection, Engineering, Accounts Payable) to remove barriers for optimum Capital Project execution.
  • Establish metrics to measure Expediting and Logistics performance and identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor Inspection and Shop Expediting activities to manage efficiency and effectiveness of those activities.
  • Generate Expediting and Logistic activity reports to Dow stakeholders.
  • Support Construction Management activities including visiting sites and coordinating of offload shipments.
  • Act as the primary interface between third party logistics providers (Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers) and the Project Team for the FSP2Z Program.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking is required. A bachelor's degree in business or engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years project Expediting/Logistics experience is required.
  • Experience in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access is required.
  • MEGA Capital Projects experience preferred.
  • Experience associated with freight management contract compliance is preferred.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
