SALARY: $750-$1100 per month
REPORTS TO: The Executive Director reports to the President of the Gladstone Education Foundation and the Board. This position is not funded through the school district but rather paid for directly through the Education Foundation.
Job Goal: The Executive Director of the Gladstone Education Foundation (GEF) is an Independent Contractor who reports to the president of the Foundation and the Board of directors. They are responsible for carrying out the strategic executive responsibilities of the Foundation. The GEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing educational opportunities for Gladstone schools and the community. This is accomplished through fundraising, collaborating with the community, businesses, and individuals to secure resources that enrich the educational experience for students, staff, and the community at large. The Executive Director of the Education Foundation plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission by spearheading fundraising initiatives, fostering collaboration, and orchestrating large-scale events to promote the Foundation.
Hours: The daily, weekly, and monthly hours vary depending on foundation activities. Currently, the two main fundraisers are a dinner and auction (held in the fall) and a golf tournament (held in June/July). These two major fundraisers consume a larger amount of time than normal month-to-month activities (e.g., monthly board meetings, executive committee meetings, etc.). On average, for a normal month, the hours worked could range from 5-10. During fundraising times, the hours worked per week could be 30+ plus. The Foundation also has two annual grant cycles where monies raised are awarded to staff, students, and the community. Additional hours are required during the grant cycles for promotion, meetings, and interviews. The grant cycles currently run in October and February.
Minimum Qualifications (include educational requirements and any pre-requisites):
- Sound oral and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful experience in large event planning.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with database programs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and work both independently and in a team environment.
- Sound human relation skills.
- Emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task.
- Availability to work varied hours (evenings and weekends) based upon program needs.
- Valid Oregon Driver's License.
- Fingerprinting and criminal history check as required by OAR 581-22-716.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and support to the Gladstone Education Foundation in its role of raising friends and funds on behalf of the Foundation.
- Assists Board in ensuring appropriate implementation and compliance with varied policies and procedures of the Foundation.
- Assists the Foundation, School District, Board members and volunteers in soliciting major gifts, in-kind contributions, and monetary donations.
- Prepare Foundation Board and committee agendas, minutes, policies, and reports in consultation with the Foundation Board Chair and Executive Committee.
- Coordinates with grant applicants to ensure compliance with Foundation giving criteria.
- Assists in the Foundation strategic planning process and achievement of its goals.
- Provides the Foundation Board and its committees with necessary support to accomplish varied tasks and assignments.
- Records and archives minutes, varied correspondence, printed literature, and publications of the Foundation.
- Assist with the development of the Foundation budget and encourages the Board to act in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Assists with the production and maintenance of various publications and marketing tools promoting the vision, activities, and accomplishments of Foundation including updating the website.
- Present the Gladstone Education Foundation in a positive/highly visible way with business delegates, community leaders, and various other groups residing within or visiting the Gladstone area.
- Assists with the recruitment and training of new Foundation board members.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Foundation President.
Working Conditions: Job requires varied hours, including evenings and weekends and work both indoors and outdoors.
