Position: Executive Director, Genesys Works Jacksonville

Location: Jacksonville, FL
Salary Range: The target total cash compensation for this role is $125,000 to $140,000 based on experience and demonstrated accomplishments.
Genesys Works is a national leader in providing pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships. We are growing our impact by launching a new Genesys Works site in Jacksonville, FL in 2024, and are seeking an Executive Director to lead our work in Jacksonville.
Reporting to the Genesys Works National Office, the Executive Director will serve as the face of Genesys Works Jacksonville. In this role, you will lead the local team, drive fundraising, establish and maintain corporate partner relationships, school partnerships, and ensure successful execution of core Genesys Works program elements. Additionally, you will ensure the financial management of the site and develop a long-term path for our growth in Jacksonville.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Genesys Works Launch Team, develop a strategic plan with key checkpoints and timelines to launch a Genesys Works site targeting summer 2025.
- Develop and steward local relationships with major employers to secure internship commitments.
- Lead engagement efforts with local philanthropies and community organizations to secure space and funding for launch.
- Build collaborative relationships with secondary education leaders in Jacksonville, creating pipelines of potential students from local schools serving low-income and historically marginalized people.
- Establish strong ties with community and local government institutions to support collaboration with service providers and government agencies supporting students from low-income and historically marginalized communities.
- Recruit and hire team members, and directly or indirectly supervise, evaluate, develop, and retain them
- Provide guidance on professional responsibilities, priorities and time and resource allocation
- Design and implement professional development opportunities for staff, working closely with direct reports ensure professional development of team members
- Work with and through the team to achieve key program outcomes including goals for student performance, retention, and satisfaction
- Stay aware of the nuances of different corporate and market trends to develop the necessary training supports that ensure students make an effective transition from training to internships and deliver value at Corporate Partners
- Support, build, and share best practices for positive student outcomes across Genesys Works Sites
- Recruit, engage, and retain board members in the Jacksonville community who will support in securing internships from employers and philanthropic support from high-net-worth individuals and families
- Build relationships with executive sponsors at our employer partners who host the interns (and will provide GW Jacksonville with the majority of its revenue over time), ensuring you are familiar with these companies, what they do, what opportunities they offer our students, and what their expectations are
- Collaborate with senior leadership, Executive Directors, and board members as appropriate to open doors and close gifts, generating $600,000+ in philanthropic support annually
- Set strategy and direction to build and manage relationships with community leaders of workforce development initiatives to enable site growth and expansion
- Develop and manage relationships with senior school district and city government leaders focused on workforce development activities and enabling the ascension of young adults into careers
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has the following:
- Experience in a management position with extensive experience in stakeholder relations and demonstrated success in team building and external relationship management
- Demonstrated knowledge, and preferably strong existing connections, to community organizations, high schools, employers, and/or philanthropies in the greater Jacksonville area
- Leadership style that is transparent and demonstrates innovation and creativity & ability to invest staff at all levels
- Skilled at creating and implementing engagement strategies with customers and partners within corporations, educational institutions, funders, and community organizations to accelerate support and enablement of an organization
- Past experience soliciting and closing 6-figure gifts, ideally for a college access, workforce development, or human services non-profit.
- Ability to build and leverage personal relationships and networks to create opportunities and engender external and internal support across different groups of stakeholders: funders, customers, school partners, boards, and community leaders
- Familiarity and involvement with the communities and student populations Genesys Works serves
- Experience managing financials, creating budgets, and analyzing business performance using internal and external data
- Skilled user of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- A passion for working with young adults, a strong belief in their potential, and a desire to increase their trajectory into professional careers and educational pathways
