Job description

The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will provide oversight of health and nutrition components at Educare Chicago to ensure quality services and compliance for various entities, including Early/Head Start. Coordination of services with various team members to promote health and nutrition for enrolled children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the health and nutrition content areas at Educare Chicago to ensure adherence with HSPS & EHSN policies and procedures and implementation of the OHS Health Services Competencies.

  • Management and internal monitoring activities for all health/nutrition-related requirements including Early/Head Start, DCFS and CACFP including but not limited to:

    • Well-Child Exams

    • Preventative Oral Health (Dental Exams & Cleaning w/ Fluoride)

    • Dental Treatment

    • Hearing and Vision Screenings and Follow-Up

    • Immunizations

    • Management of Chronic Conditions

    • Medication Management

    • Treatment or Follow-up Testing

    • Health Insurance

    • Medical and Dental Home

    • Nutrition Exemptions/Allergies/Preferences

    • Classroom observations

    • PIR

  • Intentional collaboration with Educare FSS Supervisor, FSS, nurse, dietitian, lead food aid and education teams to promote and ensure high-quality health and nutrition services.

  • Develop relationships in the community with clinics, doctors, and dentists that are frequently used by parents and/or in the community that may be able to service families in the program to manage relationships. Lead and coordinate the Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) to identify, plan, and implement program health priorities.

  • Ensuring accuracy of ChildPlus health records.

  • Be up to date on changes or updates to state or federal health/nutrition requirements along with current health/nutrition trends affecting birth-5 population served.

  • Evaluation of data, systems, policies and procedures to ensure high-quality and effective health and nutrition services.

Qualifications:

  • Required Bachelors degree.

  • Masters preferred.

  • Experience in Early/Head Start, early childhood/childcare and/or pediatric health including experience in public health, health education, or health promotion.

  • Familiarity with adhering to local, state and federal health/nutrition requirements.

  • Experience in working effectively with diverse audiences. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability case manage children’s health records.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making.

  • Able to process, protect and exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.

  • Organizational skills are sufficient to efficiently manage multiple tasks, associated documentation, and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proficient with computer applications—thorough understanding of Microsoft Office required). mail merge, spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), email systems (Microsoft Office required), and ChildPlus.

Salary:We believe that all employees should be paid fairly and equitably. As of the time of this posting, the expected base annual salary range for this position is $67,125.00 - $72,000.00. The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
