The Southeast Regional Resource Center, SERRC Board of Directors, is seeking an experienced, visionary leader who can develop exceptional programs and services that support high-quality educational systems and student achievement. The Executive Director will have a proven record of success in complex organizations that employ strategic business management strategies to achieve efficiency, economy, and effectiveness for school operations, relevant learning opportunities for all learners, and support for implementing initiatives. Applicants should have successful experience working with diverse communities, be culturally responsive, and be aware of the needs and challenges of learners throughout the state. The Executive Director establishes the strategic direction for the organization by building upon the agency’s vision, mission, and values, builds culture, leads high-performing teams, manages the agency budget, allocates resources appropriately, and builds partnerships. The Executive Director works collaboratively and strategically with and is accountable to the 18–member SERRC Board of Directors and serves as the agency’s Chief Executive Officer.
SERRC, Alaska’s only educational resource center, is a non-profit and was established by the State Statute in 1976 to support the educational needs and infrastructure of the 54 school districts across the state. Services extend from our youngest to oldest learners, professional learning for educators, special education and transition services, technology and business operations, construction and facilities management, federal and state grant management, counseling, and more.
With almost 50 years of service to Alaskan schools and students, SERRC remains focused on high-quality educational services and personalized resources to meet the diverse needs of all Alaskans.
Job Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in education, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of five years of successful administrative leadership experience in public education, an education service agency, business, or a complementary nonprofit field
Understanding and/or willingness to learn about education in Alaska, especially in rural and geographically remote areas
Successful experience with contract management, grant writing and administration, and program evaluation

Position Responsibilities:
Serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the agency and official agent of the board
Exercise strategic leadership in agency planning and operations
Lead and direct with vision a multi-faceted educational service agency that responds to statewide needs
With an entrepreneurial mindset, identify areas of program development and implement appropriate solutions
Demonstrate ingenuity and imagination in the problem-solving process
Provide a system of ongoing development, support, and evaluation of staff that ensures a high level of productivity and efficiency
Work closely with the Board Chair to collaboratively plan and execute board meetings, actions, and activities
Commit to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of the agency
Be highly motivated to expend the effort necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging educational practices to improve student achievement
Supervise all administrative and supervisory personnel
Plan for and monitor all fiscal operations to ensure fiscal viability
Provide direction regarding contract management, grant writing, grant administration, and program evaluation
Develop a strong understanding of SERRC programs to support growth
Strategically manage large-scale initiatives and programs
Inform and advise the board on matters that will assist them in making sound decisions
Participate in statewide committees that are required: Region 16 Comprehensive Center and Area Health Education Center
Communicate and operate from strong ideals and beliefs about education
Engender trust in the organization and build relationships among communities, clients, staff, state agencies, and partners
Implement board actions, recommendations, policies, and procedures
Develop and maintain regular communication systems with the Board and staff
Demonstrate strong and effective written and oral communication skills

Manage SERRC facilities
Perform other duties necessary to fulfill the role of executive leadership.
Compensation Package: $130,000-$150,000. Health benefits (medical, dental, vision) including HRA, sick and personal leave, 30 days paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, State of Alaska retirement system, professional organization membership, professional development stipend, and accrued business airline miles.
Position Duration: 260 Days annually
Location: Juneau, Alaska; Full-time, In-office. Ability to travel for the organization as needed.
