Events Assistant - On Call
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) seeks an on-call Events Assistant to join our Development Team!
This role is responsible for supporting the execution of birthday parties, private rentals, and events on-site. In partnership with the Senior Events Manager and Learning & Museum Experience team, this position is the face of these museum events and has direct interaction with visitors to the Bay Area Discovery Museum.
This is a great time to join BADM as we re-launch our birthday party and events program! This position is a public facing role; Events Assistants will play an active role in joyful celebrations for children and the families and friends that love them.
This entry-level position pays a rate of $23.11/hour.
This is an on-call position to that works on-site at our charming 7.5-acre campus in Sausalito, CA. The primary focus of this role is to support scheduled events, predominantly birthday party bookings held on Saturdays and Sundays. As such, candidates must have availability on weekends. Additionally, there may be occasional weekday assignments as required. We are looking for flexible individuals who can be available for on-call shifts in alignment with the museum's operational requirements & events calendar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes set-up and clean-up of birthday parties and events.
- Facilitates check-in of host families and their guests.
- Provides timely reminders for party hosts, and maintains a safe, clean environment for visitors and staff.
- Interacts and engages with children, parents, and party guests in a child’s birthday party setting.
Additional duties as assigned.
SKILL REQUREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience interacting with children ages 1 to 8 years old preferred.
- Experience in a customer service role preferred but not required.

- Must be able to exhibit an outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic presence.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Ability to manage event time effectively and respond to shifting expectations and occurrences during the events. Must be able to think on your feet and exercise problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Ability to work with a variety of people from various backgrounds and cultures.
- Abides by and enforces the museum’s health and safety protocols.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation to commute to and from the museum. Please note that local public transportation (i.e. bus/train) is extremely limited due to our site location.
