Job Description:
We are searching for the perfect Event Specialist to join our team. As an Event Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing successful events. Your primary focus will be on coordinating and ensuring that all aspects of the event, including sponsorships, logistics, and attendee satisfaction, are executed flawlessly.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Director of Events, understand event goals and map out plans to hit benchmarks.
- Oversee and manage event sponsorship opportunities including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and fulfillment.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, rental logistics, ticket sales and vendor coordination.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure that event decisions are consistent with Northern Virginia Magazine messaging
- Arrange all pre-event meetings and site visits
- Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure successful event execution, including equipment setup, staffing, permitting/licensing, attendee check in, and audiovisuals.
- Ensure exceptional customer service is provided throughout the event, maintaining high audience, vendor & participant satisfaction levels.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving processes and enhancing the overall event experience.
- Adhere to regulations and maintain compliance with local governments
Requirements:
- Experience in event sponsorship sales & fulfillment
- Proven work experience as an Event Specialist or similar role.
- Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Resourcefulness and exceptional problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in event planning software and MS Office.
- Knowledgeable in event permitting/licensing and compliance with local government.
- A flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field.
- Familiarity with local vendors, venues, and suppliers.
- Experience working on ticketed public/community events

Pay: $38,635.92 - $46,529.28 per year
