Job description

Under the general direction of the Agriculture, Arts and Education Manager, the duties of the Event Coordinator include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, and promoting program exhibits for the 22nd District Agricultural Association (District). This includes competitive and non-competitive exhibits and may include photography, fine arts, woodworking, the Farm, flower and garden shows, the California Grown building, beer and wine, and/or special exhibits. Assists with the planning and decoration of exhibits; contacts prospective exhibitors, offers suggestions on suitable methods of exhibit display and assists in arranging for exhibits; assists in organizing and displaying exhibits and the coordination of judging exhibits; assists in planning the programming of show events and displays; assists in determining exhibit classes and in the classification of exhibit entries; assists in arranging for the services of judges; assists in arranging for special events; assists in outreach and addressing clubs and organizations.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a standard office with artificial light and climate control. At times, work may be performed outdoors; before, after (set-up/tear-down) and during the annual Fair and for event/space tours and coordination. Work activities involve working in an office setting; sitting for prolonged periods of time; bending neck in an upward and downward flexion and side-to-side turning of neck; pushing and pulling file drawers; moving bank boxes up to 25 pounds; and operating standard office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine finger dexterity and fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, telephone, and radio. Work activities involve the abilities to verbally communicate and hear to express and exchange information, see to perform assigned tasks, and read, write, and speak English at a level required for successful job performance.

    Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
    • Minimum three years' experience in coordinating events, exhibits, exhibit programming, or exhibit design at a large event center or fair.
    • Knowledge and experience with planning, designing, and organizing exhibits for fairs, multi-day events, and/or festivals, including competitive and non-competitive exhibits.
    • Ability to create imaginative and informative displays and/or exhibits that educate guests.
    • High School diploma or higher.
    • Knowledge of competition processes and judging procedures.
    • Basic knowledge of report writing and all forms of written and verbal communication.
    • Experience with and the ability to use Microsoft Office - Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information effectively.
