For The Future STRTP & Guiding Our Youth STRTP are 24/7 non-profit corporations offering a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) Facility designed to assist its Residents in meeting treatment goals within six months of treatment. For The Future STRTP & Guiding Our Youth STRTP supports a cross-system, cross-agency team environment that places the highest value on collaborative movements toward addressing concurrent and complex needs. We exist to facilitate culturally and developmentally sensitive and appropriate services to rehabilitate at-risk adolescents ages 13 to 17 who have experienced loss, neglect, abuse, subsequent substance abuse, or any other trauma that has impacted their ability to function healthily. We are anchored in the commitment to work collaboratively with every important member in a Youth's life so that needs are properly identified and Youth are appropriately served.

We currently offer a robust clinical practicum for those working towards graduation requirements or licensure. Supervision is provided. See below for guidelines regarding this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will perform or cause to have performed the following items:

1. Supervision of the facility environment and physical plant during assigned shifts.

2. Direct supervision and observation of Youth during all assigned activities, areas, and shifts.

3. Compliance with assigned work schedules and, within work schedules, vigilance to ensure that the assigned duties are performed efficiently and effectively.

4. Follow the established program procedures to ensure the integrity of the program. Recommends to higher authority proposed changes to program procedures as necessary and/or desirable to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.

5. Ensures that all reasonable suspicion of abuse involving a resident is documented and reported according to the time limitations prescribed by law.

6. Attendance and participation at staff orientation and all in-service trainings. Compliance with the written program statement, written policies and procedures, and other applicable procedures and regulatory requirements. May participate in the training of new staff (job shadowing).

7. Will participate in treatment team assessment reviews of Youth with other staff members and implementation of the individual Needs and Services plan (Treatment Plan) for each Youth.

8. Timely preparation and/or submission of reports and documents, according to policy, as required by the Supervisor such as Special Incident reports, Suspected Child Abuse Reports, daily activity logs, etc.

9. Inventories of Youth’s clothing and personal possessions and the preparation of required inventory and custody receipts. Supervision of Youth during clothing shopping trips and assistance in the selection of appropriate clothing. Ensure Youth adherence to program dress code policy.

10. Use of all equipment and supplies in a safe and appropriate manner; may be required to serve as the facility safety representative.

11. Ensures that supervised activities are conducted in a safe manner particularly regarding water safety and other potentially dangers activities. Always ensure the health and safety of the Youth.

12. May perform minor household maintenance functions. May perform housekeeping functions with or without Youth. Performs food services functions involving the preparation and service of food, and the supervision of Youth while dining to provide guidance in social graces and appropriate behavior.

13. Assistance provided to Youth with homework and academic activities, and facilitation of access to medical/dental/mental health services, etc.

14. Receipt, storage, and dispensing of medications in accordance with prescriptions, programs statement, written procedures, and Title 22 regulations.

15. Working knowledge of Title 22, Sections 87000-87095.

16. Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing demands as imposed by the needs of the Youth, the supervisor, and/or administration.

17. Demonstrate the ability to develop positive interpersonal relationships with Youth, their family, placing officers, visitors, and agency personnel, modeling cultural humility and competency and diversity sensitivity and inclusion. At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with agency colleagues and supervisors.

18. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.

19. Actively engage the agency’s core values and demonstrate support of agency Vision/Mission statement in everyday functions.

20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Service, Facility Supervisor, Facility Manager, and/or Administrator.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy AND with a valid registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Ability to communicate in writing and orally, in English, and to read and understand instructions and procedures written in English. The incumbent must hold a valid California driver’s license, a driving record of 2 points or less, provide proof of insurance on personal automobile, be certified in CPR, First Aid, Water Safety and Emergency Physical Intervention, and be at least 21 years of age. DMH documentation trained highly preferred!

The incumbent must be able to work with adolescents with various mental health issues and other addictive behaviors and project a positive adult role model for the Youth. Criminal record clearance through Dept. of Social Services Caregiver Background Clearance Bureau is required prior to presence in the facility.

The physical demands of the incumbent will include, but not be limited to, the ability to see and hear accurately, with or without the aid of devices; to lift objects up to 30 pounds; to run, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with freedom of movement. Incumbent must have completed Mandated Reporter Training and remain up to date with annual training requirements of Guiding Our Youth STRTP & For The Future STRTP.
